Introducing a bucket-list – and highly lucrative – three-day golf experience for amateur women golfers, played across the iconic layouts of Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart
The Scottish Highlands is one of the most revered destinations in golf. As well as being home to some of the world’s most celebrated links layouts, the off-course ambience with the warmest of welcomes ensures visitors continue to pour back in great numbers. With women’s golf continuing to enjoy unprecedented growth and more players seeking opportunities to play the game’s most iconic venues, the Highland Golf Links Women’s Pro-Am has been created to offer something beyond a traditional tournament: great golf, spectacular scenery and the best of Highland hospitality, all in one unforgettable trip.

Taking place May 3-5, 2027, the three-day event will be open to 36 teams of four players, competing over Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart Golf Links, giving amateur and professional golfers the rare opportunity to experience three world-class Highland links in a single trip. With a full field, Highland Golf Links – a collective bringing together the region’s leading golf courses and three exceptional hotels – is targeting a professional prize fund of approximately £12,000, potentially making the event one of the most lucrative women’s Pro-Ams of its kind in the UK. And for those joining the inaugural tournament, there is an added incentive: the chance to be part of the beginning of a Pro-Am with ambitions to become one of the UK’s biggest and most sought-after women’s golf experiences.
The event gets underway on Sunday, May 2, with optional practice rounds and an opening reception, followed by three days of competition from Monday
through Wednesday. Alongside the professional prize fund, teams will compete for significant prizes, with entry including welcome gifts, daily hospitality, nearest-the-pin competitions and amateur and professional sweeps.
Three iconic Highland links… Each of the three host courses offers a unique test of links golf — and a distinct piece of Highland golfing history. Royal Dornoch’s Championship Course is widely regarded as one of the world’s great links. With a history stretching back more than 400 years and a spectacular setting overlooking the Dornoch Firth, it combines breathtaking Highland scenery with a memorable test of golf. The course has consistently featured among Golf Digest’s top five courses in the world and has attracted generations of golfers from across the globe.

Founded in 1887, Nairn is another of Scotland’s historic links. Set alongside the Moray Firth, the course combines sweeping coastal views with a challenging yet enjoyable test, while its distinguished history includes hosting the 2012 Curtis Cup. Completing the line-up is Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands, a four-time host of the Scottish Open. With panoramic views across the Moray Firth, Castle Stuart provides a memorable and visually spectacular round, complemented by its distinctive clubhouse, outstanding hospitality and renowned food and drink. More than just the Golf… While competition sits at the heart of the Women’s Pro-Am, the event has been designed around the complete Highland experience. Hotel partners Links House, Kingsmills Hotel and Culloden House will provide players with stylish bases from which to explore the region, with a range of experiences available to complement the tournament. Players will have the opportunity to discover Highland food and drink, immerse themselves in local culture, explore the outdoors or simply take time to relax – with the event encouraging visitors to extend their stay and make the most of their time in northern Scotland.

Experiences available include wine tasting overlooking the River Ness, a cruise on Loch Ness, whisky and cocktails at Glen Ord Distillery, private tartan design with Prickly Thistle, and a visit to discover the heritage of Johnstons of Elgin. For those seeking adventure, options include gorge walking, cycling around Loch Ness, and outdoor sauna and sea dipping on the Moray Firth. The result is a Pro-Am built around the idea that golf is only the beginning. The result is an event designed around the complete Highland experience – with great golf providing the starting point, and the destination providing plenty of reasons to stay longer.
Neil Hampton, General Manager, Royal Dornoch said: “We wanted to create a Women’s Pro-Am that felt like more than simply arriving, playing golf and heading home.“ The opportunity to play Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart is obviously a huge part of the appeal, but the Highlands has so much more to offer.
“We want the women who come to play to enjoy the courses, but also to experience the food, the people, the landscape and everything that makes this
part of Scotland so special. There’s a real opportunity to create something that women will want to come back to year after year.”
The Women’s Pro-Am is intended to establish itself as a leading event in the UK women’s golfing calendar, combining a high-quality 36-team competition with an experience built around the best of the Highlands.
Entry is priced £3,180 per team (£2,650+VAT), with optional Sunday practice rounds available at approximately £500 per tee time.
